Cupcakes, Slices and Freinds

Hi all,
I'm back and I have been busy with baking. I have made some new cupcakes, some more slice, and some cute new icing friends. We will start with the cupcakes. Now with these cupcakes I have done something different with them. I put cupcakes on my cupcakes. I thought that is was a really cool idea. I made the mini cupcakes with fondant icing and some silicone moulds. All I had to do was push it in and then get them out again. These silicone moulds came in a set of four.So there are the cupcakes, bows, cherries and a strawberry. The real cupcakes are chocolate and coffee. They are soooooo good.   And here are what the cupcakes turned out to look like.

This is the bow silicone mould ( I didn't take any photos of the other ones.)

Now we have a slice. This slice is called Butter Scotch Squares. This slice tastes so good. They are like caramel short bread. It has a base, then you have the caramel middle and on top you have the same mixture as the base but this time you great it. So now it looks like a crumble. This is what it turned out to look like.

I think it looks professional (the slice not the photo). The key ingredient for this slice is the sweetened condensed milk. This gives it the sweet, caramel taste to it.
Now here are my new editions to my icing friends:
Three brown bunnies.

And (my favourite) the Polar Bear.

I like the polar bear because it's fishing, and he has the cutest face. The fishing poll is a toothpick, and the fishing line is just a bit of wire.
Well I think that you are now all caught up with my baking, and creations.

Sheep Birthday Cakes

Last week it was my Mum's birthday. So I decided to do some thing special for her. I was going to do some thing else, but I didn't have all the things I needed for it. So I went on you-tube to look for ideas. In the end I did find something that looked easy enough. Once I got all the things I needed, I started to bake the cupcakes. The cupcake I used are just plain vanilla cupcakes. No thing special. There was no need for anyhing special. But to make what I did do was dye the cupcake pink. It should of been red, but turned out pink( as all red dyes do).
For the topping which is the main part it that instead of using icing as the video clipped showed I bought white chocolate instead. It turned out alright. I just dipped the marshmallows in the white chocolate. Near the end, when I was nearly finished all the cupcakes. I figured I could do the same thing as the you-tube clip. Cover the cupcake with chocolate and put the marshmallows on the cupcake. The white chocolate is very easy to handle with. But what I did learn is that the more food colouring you use the harder it is to use. Handy tip take it from me.
Now to show you the end product.

These are the main sheep. They don't take very long to make.

These are some lambs I made. If there are big sheep there must be some baby ones. Don't you think. All I did was get a big marshmallow and stick smaller marshmallows onto it.

I also thought I would make a field to show of my sheep.
Well that is all for now.
Bye

OWLS!!!!

My favourite thing in the world had to be owls. I don't know why but I just love them. So these hoildays I began to make some small, cute little owls.

It's made out of felt. But not all the way through, I glued the felt feathers onto a polystyrene ball. I can't take all the credit. I used a pattern of  http://pinterest.com/ It's a really cool website. So yeah I found a pattern on there to make this owl. I hope you like as much as I do.

       Have fun.
Bye for now.

Easter Cupcakes!

Easter is here. Today I thought I would make some special Easter cupcakes. And here they are.

Don't they look awesome. Everyone I showed them to loved them. The Easter eggs I used were raisin centred  eggs. I thought they wouldn't be very good. But they are so nice. I was surprised myself. The nests are just chocolate flakes, but only crushed. I had lots of fun doing that. Now I know that flakes wouldn't stick to the cupcake by themselves. The secret is melted chocolate and some cream. Just a side tip, put the cream in first then the chocolate, or else you will burn the chocolate to the pan. Must learn from the mistakes.
Well that is all for now.
Happy Easter!

Mice/mouse and Penguin

New month, new stuff. Penguins and mice.
Last week (sorry don't get on the computer much) I made some grey and black icing. Dad got me some black food colouring. I'll start with the grey mouse.....

I found that making grey was a lot easier then making black. The mouse itself is big, but smaller then some other icing friends that I've made.
Penguins.....

A Mummy penguin and three baby penguins. The smaller they got the more complicated to would get, because it would have to be for scale and persisted. Now getting that black that was a challenge in itself. From grey to dark grey, to even darker grey then light black then black. Very soon I got bored with rolling the icing.
Here are a three of the four penguins.....

Crocodile Cake

Hello
A couple days ago I made a vanilla layered cake without the layer. Things just went a little wrong. so it turned out to be very flat, but that's ok. I iced the cake with blue icing. I used the icing that makes it taste strawberry, you were meant to just add water to the icing, but I started to make butter cream icing but I didn't have enough plan icing. So I added the pink icing. On the back of it, it said 200g icing sugar and something like 2T butter optional. My Mum has used this icing before without the butter and it didn't turn pink. I had the butter and it turned pink. I had to use a lot of blue food colouring. In the end I made it turn blue. Not in the shade I wanted it to be. But that's ok. I made this cake so i could but my giant crocodile on it.
Here is what it turned out to look like.....

I had a little trouble getting him on the cake. But I got him on in the end with some help from Dad. His leg was  going to full of. I joined it on with some water but you can't really tell.
To me the cake was not finished, so I made some fish to go on it.
Here is the final look.....

Now it looks complete, don't you think.
Here's a close up on the fish

Well I have now told you all I can about this cake.

More Icing Friends

Hello again. Today I have made some very big, good looking friends which are course made out of icing. And here they are.

The first I want to show you is my Green Crocodile.....

He ended up being a lot bigger than I intended (as always) but now I can use him on a cake of some sort. I still don't have any black icing so his eyes turned out to look a little funny.

Next is my Yellow Cat.....
I personally like this one because well he is a cat playing with a ball. With my cat I had lots of fun making him because I got to learn some new techniques. For example his head and ears, to make the ears all I had to do was pinch the end of the head. But yes there are lots of new things/techniques I learned with the cat.

                                                                                    Lastly My Snowman.....

With my snowman I used some dry spaghetti to hold his head up. I also put the scarf then the arms when it was suppose to be the other way round. I just miss read the instructions.

Cupcakes

Hello Today I have made some cupcakes that are very yummy. They are called Chocolate Chip & Raisin Brioches. If you have a good taste for chocolate and raisins then you will like these. I was doing a double batch of them so there was a lot of mixture. Ended up using milk and white chocolate. At lest no one complained. I was very happy with them. I forgot to paint the top of them with some egg so they would be nice and golden. But no worry cause the turned out to be just as golden.
Here is what they turned out to look like.....

My family seems to really like them.

Icing Friends

Hi, this is my first entry on my first blog ever. I have always loved being in the kitchen doing baking and all. I also like crafting and things like that. With my icing friends, I got a icing moulds book for my birthday, and the icing itself I got for Christmas - thanks Nana. This year I have started making my new icing friends. Here are a couple I made today.

The first one I want to show you is my elephant ...

I started with white icing then dyed it pink with red colour gel food colouring. I only used a little so I could get the pink. My elephant ended up being bigger than I intended to be. But in my opinion he still looks really cute. To hold  up his head I had to use some uncooked pasta. I had lots of fun making him.

The next one I want to show you is a white dog ...

I used white icing to make my dog. To make him look fluffy, I got a toothpick and got under the icing and flicked it up. I did it all over his little fat body apart from his face. It might be a bit hard to see his eyes and nose because they're white. I don't have any black icing yet but I do intend to get some soon. You may be able to see some little brown spots on his face, this is because I tried using some chocolate chip drops for eyes.  I did not like how they looked so took them off but some chocolate dust remained.
